Chemotherapy (“chemo”) is a type of Cancer treatment that uses drugs to destroy cancer cells. The chemotherapy treatment works by slowing or stopping the growth of cancer cells that grow and separate quickly. This treatment can also cause harm to healthy cells that also divide quickly like the cells that cause your hair to grow. The side effect from this is hair loss.

Often when chemotherapy treatments are completed, it can take two to three monrhs or longer for your hair to start recovering and the hair regrowth to begin to be apparent.

For some women, wearing a wig is a great solution to hide the hair loss caused by their medical treatments. For women anticipating chemotherapy, we encourage you to come and see as far in advance of your treatment start date as possible. That way, we can get a sample of your own hair, for color, texture and style, and create your wig so that it looks exactly like your own natural hair.  This way, you have the ability to keep your medical treatments as private as you wish.
